What are Ergonomic Assessments?

One of the biggest unseen liabilities that cost businesses time and money every year are incorrectly set up workstations and poor ergonomics. An uncomfortable employee cannot focus and be effective when their mind is on the pain in their lower back, a stiff neck, or the ache in their wrists.

Our ergonomic consultants are Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Exercise Physiologists with years of clinical and corporate experience who can add real value to your business and help you reduce the risk of costly compensation claims.

CHM conduct thousands of ergonomic assessments a year, across multiple clients and industry. CHM offer online, onsite and in vehicle ergonomic assessments tailored to suit your employees needs. One of our more popular programs CHM offers, an ergonomic ‘sweep’ program where our qualified and trained professionals can offer 15-minute workstation assessments onsite. Our approach is to ensure we advise individuals how they best can set their own workstations whether that be in the office or at home, this assists in reducing musculoskeletal injuries in your workforce as your employees will gain one on one knowledge.

One-on-One

This ergonomic assessment can be conducted online or onsite and is designed for an employee who may or may not be experiencing pain/discomfort. The assessment allows the CHM health professional to assess the worker at a standard computer-based workstation and make suggestions to prevent or minimise risk factors present.

Ergonomic Sweep

An ergonomic sweep is a checklist-based assessment delivered by a CHM health professional (approximately 15 minutes per person/workstation) and is undertaken over a large area designed to ensure correct workstation set-up.

Vehicle Ergonomics

Improving your employees’ driving ergonomics. Generally, drivers are often overlooked when it comes to workplace ergonomics, even though their workstations are less adjustable than those found in offices. Actually, very few employers are aware of the risk posed, not through collision, but simply through sitting in or operating a vehicle.

Incorrect workstation set-up and prolonged sitting and standing, commonly referred to as sedentary behaviour, can place heavy demands on our bodies and increase the risk of a range of potentially serious health problems.
